What's covered —
by state.

Insurance coverage depends on which state you're located in. Here's a clear breakdown so you know exactly where you stand before your first session.

Texas clients

Insurance Accepted

✦ BCBS ✦ UnitedHealthcare ◇ Self-Pay

If you're located in Texas, I accept BCBS (Blue Cross Blue Shield) and UnitedHealthcare directly. Your copay and deductible apply per your plan. I'll verify your benefits before your first session so there are no surprises. Self-pay is also welcome for Texas clients who prefer it.

Self-Pay + Superbill

◇ Self-Pay ◇ Superbill Provided ◇ OON Reimbursement

For clients outside Texas, I am self-pay only — meaning you pay the session fee directly. However, I provide a detailed superbill after each session that you can submit to your insurance for out-of-network reimbursement. Many PPO plans cover 50–80% of out-of-network therapy costs. See below for exactly how this works.

Out-of-Network Reimbursement

How to get reimbursed
step by step.

If you're outside Texas or have insurance other than BCBS or UHC, you may still be able to get a significant portion of your therapy costs reimbursed. Here's exactly how it works.

1

Call your insurance

Before your first session, call the member services number on the back of your insurance card and ask about your out-of-network (OON) mental health benefits.

2

Ask the right questions

Ask specifically about your OON deductible, reimbursement percentage, and whether telehealth is covered. See below for the exact questions to ask.

3

Pay at the time of service

You pay the full session fee ($165 or $200) at the time of your appointment via credit card, HSA, or FSA.

4

Receive your superbill

After each session, I provide a detailed superbill — a receipt with all the billing codes your insurance needs to process your claim.

5

Submit to insurance

Submit the superbill to your insurance company online, by mail, or through your insurer's app. Most plans process claims within 2–4 weeks.

6

Receive reimbursement

Your insurance mails or deposits your reimbursement check directly to you. Many PPO plans reimburse 50–80% of the session cost once your OON deductible is met.

Questions to ask your insurance company

Call the member services number on the back of your card and ask these specific questions — write down the answers and the name of the representative:

Ask them:

  • "Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?"
  • "What is my out-of-network deductible, and how much of it has been met?"
  • "What percentage do you reimburse for out-of-network outpatient mental health after the deductible?"
  • "Is telehealth covered for out-of-network providers?"
  • "How do I submit an out-of-network claim?"

If your plan has OON benefits, the process is straightforward. If you have questions about your superbill or the submission process, I'm happy to help walk you through it.

Why Specialized Care

Why specialized perinatal
therapy is worth it.

The cost of therapy can feel significant. But consider what it costs to keep going as you are — the sleep you're losing, the relationships being strained, the moments of motherhood you're missing because anxiety, grief, or OCD is in the way.

Specialized care works faster and more effectively than general therapy for perinatal conditions. Most clients see meaningful improvement within 8–12 sessions. The investment is real — and so is the return.

✓

Specialized, not general

Perinatal anxiety, OCD, and pregnancy loss require a therapist trained specifically for them. General therapy is slower and less effective for these conditions.

✓

No insurance restrictions

Self-pay and OON clients get full flexibility on session length, frequency, and approach — no insurance company deciding what you need.

✓

Complete privacy

Self-pay therapy doesn't create an insurance record. Your diagnosis stays between you and your therapist — not your insurer.

✓

HSA & FSA eligible

Therapy is a qualified medical expense. If you have an HSA or FSA, you can use pre-tax dollars — effectively reducing the cost by your tax rate.

Common Questions

Fees & insurance
questions answered.

For Texas clients, I accept BCBS and UnitedHealthcare directly. For clients in Colorado, Florida, Illinois, and Ohio, I am self-pay only — but I provide a superbill after each session so you can submit to your insurance for out-of-network reimbursement. Many PPO plans cover 50–80% of out-of-network therapy costs once your deductible is met.

A superbill is a detailed receipt for therapy services that includes all the billing codes your insurance company needs to process an out-of-network claim. After each session, I'll provide one for you. You then submit it to your insurance company — either online through your insurer's portal, by mail, or through their app. Your insurance reviews it and sends reimbursement directly to you, typically within 2–4 weeks.

Call the member services number on the back of your insurance card and ask: "Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits? What is my OON deductible and reimbursement percentage for outpatient mental health?" Most PPO plans have OON benefits; HMO plans typically do not. Once you know your OON deductible and reimbursement rate, you can calculate what your effective cost per session will be once the deductible is met.

Yes — therapy is a qualified medical expense under both HSA and FSA rules. You can use your HSA or FSA card to pay for sessions directly. This is one of the easiest ways to reduce the out-of-pocket cost of therapy, since you're using pre-tax dollars. If your card doesn't process automatically, I can provide a receipt for manual reimbursement through your HSA or FSA administrator.

Payment is due at the time of service for all self-pay clients. For insurance clients, your copay is due at the time of service; I handle billing your insurance directly. I accept credit card, HSA, and FSA — all processed securely through my client portal.

I ask for at least 24 hours notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Late cancellations and no-shows may be charged the full session fee. I understand that life with a newborn or during pregnancy is unpredictable — if something comes up, please reach out as soon as possible and we'll work it out.
